IC:

Character name: G.
Fandom: Katekyo Hitman Reborn
Timeline: End of the TYL arc.
Age: Appears to be in his his mid-twenties but is realistically at least over a century or two.

~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: G is the first Storm Guardian of the Vongola and Giotto's right hand man, which really only means two things. The first being that he can employ the use of the storm version of the dying will flame (referred to as DWF from now on) and the second being that he is an incredibly capable man who is particularly adept at physical combat.

To start, a DWF is described as being an overly dense aura exuded by the human body. However, this aura can be seen by the naked eye and actually lives and acts like a flame in that it consumes oxygen and has physical presence. In multiple scenes the flame has actually been shown to warp metal. There are seven types of DWFs in total, each representing an aspect of the open sky.

G's flame, storm, is the flame of disintegration. It's a DWF that specializes in the destruction of anything it touches, even other flames, and is considered useful only for offensive purposes. The method with which G employs this flame is in his archery. He possesses a bow constructed of bone that allows him to channel his flame into arrows. When released, these arrows have a devastating effect on whatever they hit. So much so, that it was said that whenever G used his archery in battle, he never lost.

His other skills are what one would expect of a man who spent years fighting against some of Italy's most dangerous men. His speed, strength and agility are all far above the norm, as are his skills with a gun which was his weapon of choice whenever he fought a battle that wasn't in the interests of the Vongola. He is also shown to have some considerable skill in hand-to-hand combat, able to take down a group of assailants swiftly and single-handed.

The other side of G's abilities is that as the will of the storm ring, G isn't exactly what you would consider human. Though he has a tangible form, his true form is closer to that of a ghost in that it's partially see-through (or entirely invisible) and can't physically be hurt by any normal weapons. Though he's capable of changing it as he desires, the change is in appearance alone, leaving both his voice and personality intact. In that aspect, it could be said that the only thing that changes is how others see him. Notably, when he changes forms, he can also apparently change his "density" in that he can make himself pass for a living human being, rather than a specter. (AKA: he becomes solid.)

How would they use their abilities?: Considering G spent most of his actual life as a vigilante, seeking to better the lives of the less fortunate around him, it's more than apparent that all his talents would be used in the name of good. If Giotto ever shows up, G will start taking orders from him, but until then he'll exercise his skills as he sees fit for the betterment of the refugees as a whole.

Appearance: Tall and fit, G evens out at around 5'9" without his shoes. Commonly seen wearing sloppily tucked in dress shirts, dress pants and a loosened tie, his unkempt appearance coupled with the tattoo that stretches all the way from his hairline to his ankle hints very obviously at a previously delinquent lifestyle. Both his eye and hair color reflect his flame, the storm, giving him an overall hostile appearance. However, it comes off as more sullen and brooding than physically intimidating. He's easy to miss in a crowd unless you know who you're looking for.

Background: G's history is skimmed over at best with great chunks of it left entirely to the imagination.

What is known is that when he was young, he became associated with a boy close to his age named Giotto. Though he was reckless and temperamental, the two soon became fast friends, close enough that the sight of G trailing after Giotto became a common and familiar sight. As the two grew up in one of the less flattering towns of Italy, they became very aware of the fact that those in positions of authority were abusing their power and, unable to turn a blind eye, began to help in little ways that they could. (Leaving food for those with none, giving charity to those struggling to survive, etc. It was in these small acts of kindness that they stumbled across someone who was doing the exact same thing, Cozart Shimon. Realizing their similar ideals, the three quickly became fast friends and though G never held the same closeness to Cozart that Giotto did, he still thought of him quite fondly which, for the stern youth, was quite a feat.

It was also Cozart who suggested Giotto start the vigilante organization that would eventually become the Vongola family, in response to the growing suppression of the innocent, hard working civilians around them and their mounting frustrations at their inability to do anything. Though the details become rather vague afterward, what is clear is that within a few short years, Giotto and Cozart eventually came to both be leaders of two separate and powerful families. In that time, G, forever Giotto's faithful friend and loyal confidant, became known as the don's right-hand man and his Storm Guardian. A skilled mafioso who, when he fought with the bow his boss had given him in the family's name, never lost a single fight.

The title of Storm Guardian was one of six titles granted to Giotto's closest friends and, like the name infers, was given to those responsible for protecting the "sky," the boss of the Vongola family which, in this case, was Giotto. The guardian of the storm in particular was responsible for being an unrelenting assault on their enemies. However, unlike how many would choose to interpret that statement- a ruthless attacker who destroyed everything in their path, G always remembered the true purpose of being a guardian. In that aspect, he chose to translate the purpose of the storm guardian as someone who "protected their friends with everything they had" and strove to pass on that meaning to later generations.

Famed for his loyalty to Giotto and skill in battle, it should be little surprise then that when the family was subsequently betrayed in their later years and Giotto was forced to leave Italy, G followed him without question to Japan, where he assumedly died and was buried. The betrayal perpetrated by the Mist Guardian Daemon Spade, however, would be something G would never forget even centuries later.

Since then, G's spirit has been contained within the Vongola Storm ring, a ring in a series of rings that are given to those who are intended to lead the next generation of the Vongola family. In this form, though dormant since he and Giotto left Italy, he experienced the passage of time and the emotions of all the Storm Guardians who followed him. The fact that he existed as the will of the storm ring, however, wasn't discovered until the tenth generation when the Sky Acrobaleno, (a group of the strongest fighters from the world over,) called them forth so that they could pass on the true power of the rings to Vongola Decimo, Sawada Tsunayoshi, and his guardians.

Though initially coming off as harsh and merciless to the tenth storm guardian, Gokudera Hayato, it was eventually revealed that G had only behaved that way in order to test the strength of the bond between Tsuna and Gokudera. In the end, after passing on what he believed to be the true meaning of the title of storm guardian, G gave Gokudera his seal of approval and his inheritance, hoping that he and Tsuna would prove to be as formidable as he and Giotto had.

Later, when questioned by Giotto himself, G quite confidently stated that despite all their hardships and struggles, he never regretted a single moment of their lives.

Personality: By default, G comes off as a nasty, condescending ass to anyone who is unfamiliar with the guardian's brusque mannerisms. Aloof, cocky and incredibly pragmatic, he isn't someone who is afraid to speak his mind if he thinks you've made a mistake. Especially if you're an ally of him or the Vongola family.

However, anyone who bothers to look past this business-like facade he's wrapped himself in might be surprised to find he has several positive qualities. The first being that despite his punk-ish qualities, he is calm, composed and patient. Anyone who tries to get a rise out of him will find they have a hard time of it. Calculating, intelligent and strong-willed, there are very few things still left in this world that can rattle the guardian's composure anymore. Something his friends and allies greatly benefit from.

Around companions, such as other guardians, G has been known to have a softer, more exasperated side. Though he might treat such interactions with a resigned air, as if it's a chore to him, the fact that he actively seeks these conversations out is proof enough that he values the bonds he has. Anyone with enough patience to see past his gruff exterior will realize that G does have a good heart, it's just a little hard to find. Especially since G can be a little bit short when it comes to the failings of his friends. Though everything he says is with good heart and intended to help them move past their mistakes, rather than rub their noses in it, he can often come across as nasty and condescending. Make no mistake, however, G is a loyal and devoted friend.

A prime example of this dedication would be his relationship with Giotto. Vongola Primo is the one man who G respects and values the most in this world. Having grown up together and stuck with the Don through thick and thin, their relationship is one that transcends words. What is between them is nothing but honest, unbreakable trust. However, while G will follow Giotto to the ends of the Earth, there are a few distinct abnormalities in their relationship. The first being that G is not afraid to question Primo, despite being his right-hand man and subordinate. G knows Giotto has this horrid tendency to forget to put his own well being first, which is why G does it for him. Wherever Giotto goes, G follows like a faithful dog, quietly supporting him from the shadows in minute, unnoticeable ways and ensuring that the Don doesn't fall prey to whatever misfortune that might occur on his various crazy endeavors.

Even if he has complete and total faith in Giotto and his abilities, that doesn't change the fact that he is only one man and needs others to support him. That is where G believes he comes in as a guardian, right-hand man and friend. To him, Giotto is his greatest friend, confidant and ally and it shows in their interactions.

Which probably explains why Giotto is also one of his greatest weaknesses. Of the two things that can make G completely lose his head, Giotto is one and Daemon Spade is the other.

Daemon is Giotto's Mist Guardian and a traitor. When he turned on Giotto and ultimately forced the Don from Italy, G never forgave the illusionist for his betrayal, nor has he forgotten. Even now, over a century later, G still harbors a grudge against the man for what he did to his friend. Which is why it should be unsurprising that Daemon alone can reduce G back to the rash, hotheaded and temperamental teenager he used to be. Whether it's because Daemon broke the pact between a guardian and their Don, or because it was on a more personal level of seeing Daemon hurt his friend, G remains bitter and untrusting of the man, prone to snap at the mere sight of him. It's more than likely that G will never consider Daemon an ally or a guardian ever again, despite him also having served as Vongola Secondo's Mist Guardian.

1st person sample: [The feed comes on to show a rather belligerent looking man who seems to be smoking… quite a lot, actually. The ashtray at his side is overflowing with butts, something he adds to as he squishes out the cigarette that was in his mouth, only to pull out a new one and light it. (The background is distinctly hazy, if anyone manages to piece together that it isn’t the lighting’s fault.)

You’d think that an incorporeal spirit who can take on pretty much any form he wanted to wouldn’t fall prey to such vices, but alas. It seems the Vogons can be quite taxing to deal with, even to the dead.]

I’m looking for mafioso. [His voice, notably, is rather calm despite the large furrow in his brow.] Vongola, in particular. If you’re here, let me know.

[There’s another pause as his finger seems to fiddle with the power button, before he’s letting out a low sigh through his nose, blowing out a cloud of smoke as he does.] In times like this, family should stick together.

[Another pause. This seems to be awkward for him.] ... That’s all.

[feed terminated]

3rd person sample: Pain.

Body numbing, mind shattering pain. It was the first thing his mind registered when he came to on the muddied ground, hand curled achingly around the metal grip of his gun. As rain drops batted his face, making him wince with every plop against his skin, G stayed perfectly still for a moment trying to comprehend why he was in such a position.

At first, it was all a complete blank. He couldn't even begin to fathom why he was outside on his back, being soaked to the bone in the cold. Mostly because his brain was being completely uncooperative at this point. Taking in a slow breath, he forced himself to clear his foggy mind, to bring in coherent thought instead of the tangled mess that was currently his thought process. It took some time, but eventually it all came together, piece by piece.

'The Rossi family...' With a soft groan, he let his eyes slip shut again as it all came flooding back. He had gone to meet with the Don of the Rossi famiglia just a few hours ago (or had it been a few days now? How long had he been out?) to discuss some territorial disputes and had walked right into a trap. Evidently, they had been hoping for Giotto instead of G and had planned to take him by surprise. A wrench G had been all too happy to throw into their plans, even if it had resulted in his current state. 'Spineless cowards.' The guardian thought bitterly as he took a deep breath to steady himself against the pain before bringing his arm up and placing his palm flat against the ground.

He couldn't stay here any longer. Aside from the present danger of being found by the enemy, there was also the fact that he had to get back to the manor and the rest of the family.

Primo was waiting for him, after all.

Gritting his teeth, G took a moment to steel himself against the pain that was sure to come before shoving himself off the ground.

In hindsight? It wasn't as bad as he'd expected it to be. ... but it was still pretty damn bad. Hissing through clenched teeth, the guardian stumbled into a nearby tree and leaned against it for support while sucking in greedy mouthfuls of air.

How the hell had he gotten so badly hurt? The Rossi didn't have that many capable fighters and he was sure he'd been more than enough of a match for them with the handful of men he'd brought with him. It had been one of the main reasons why Primo had been willing to let G take his place.

... no, that didn't matter right now. He could sort out his addled brain later, when he was home and safe.

'Walk it off,'
he told himself. 'Just walk it off.' One step forward, and then another... that was it. The key was to just keep walking and ignore everything else. Including those funny popping noises that were coming from his chest. That definitely didn't bear thinking on.

The rain continued to fall around him as he walked, turning the path tricky in terms of footing. He wasn't even sure how much distance he had covered before he realized he was starting to veer off the road and into the ditch. 'Dammit, just a bit farther. Just a bit...' He didn't even have the energy to finish that thought as he pitched forward.

Right into a warm chest and a pair of waiting, gloved hands.

"G." Came a muted, soft murmur as he was pulled in close. As the guardian's eyes fluttered shut, he tried to murmur something along the lines of "I'm soaking wet, stop that." But instead, all that came out was a tired (and partially relieved) murmur.

"Giotto."

And the last thing he remembered was the gun finally slipping from his numb fingers.
